TEZUKA ARCHITECTS
Outline
This facility includes a multipurpose space and a restaurant. In order to withstand snow accumulation of more than 3m in winter, we adopted a kamaboko (fish-shaped) structure composed of wooden frames. The latticed shutters open to create a space under the eaves, which is connected to the outside through a passage under the roof called "gangi". In winter, the latticed shutters are closed and the building is completely covered with snow including the empty space on both sides.
