Outline
Reconstruction of the town hall of Minami-Oguni. At the time of the competition, it was a condition of the reconstruction of the existing reinforced concrete town hall that lumber from Minami-Oguni, a prosperous forestry area, be used. The building was constructed entirely of lumber produced in Minamikoguni, using logs and lumber in appropriate places. In the main conference room, which can also be used as a meeting hall, 10-meter-long, 400-mm-diameter polished cedar log beams are arranged in a radial pattern to create a place that symbolizes the town.
