SHIGERU BAN ARCHITECTS
Outline
The villa is built on a site rich in nature, surrounded by the Northern Yatsugatake Mountains and the Southern Alps. 120 mm square cedar logs are stacked for the structure and partitions. In order to make the stacked walls stand on their own, 36mm-diameter round steel cantilevered from the reinforced concrete foundation at a pitch of 600mm is used, and square timber with holes drilled in it is dropped in.
