Facing the Ome Road, this lifelong learning facility integrates the functions of a community center and a library in the Nakamachi district of Kodaira City. The shape of the building is as if several volumes covered with expanded metal were standing close to each other, allowing access from various directions. The building consists of a cage-shaped frame with 100 mm square steel columns distributed around the periphery. The volume is connected to each other by a 200 mm thick reinforced concrete slab enclosing 100 mm thick H steel beams. Steel construction, 1 basement floor, 3 stories above ground.
