CORE HOUSE WORKING GROUP IN ARCHI-AID PENINSULA SUPPORTING SEMINAR(UNIVERSITY OF TSUKUBA, KAIJIMA LAB + TOKYO INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, TSUKAMOTO LAB)
Outline
This meeting hall is located in Odaka Ward, Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, where the entire area of Odaka Ward was designated as a 20-km evacuation zone following the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. Although residency is still restricted, the construction of the meeting hall was promoted as a base for activities toward recovery with donations of funds and materials and grants. The building was constructed using traditional wooden board and lumber construction methods. The Core House is a development of the Itakura House (1303), a minimalist housing project for the Oshika Peninsula.
