Outline
This is a plan to reconstruct two warehouses built in 1905 in the central area of Kanayama Town, Yamagata Prefecture, and to create a plaza for exchange. The Nishida family, who once prospered as a merchant family in Kanayama, donated the storehouses to the town, which have been reconstructed. The name "Marco" is derived from the former Nishida family's trade name (○ ni Ko). The project is part of the town's "100-year campaign to create a cityscape," which the town has been promoting since 1983. The aim of the project was to create a place where people can come into contact with each other as a symbol of the town.
