Outline
This project is to reconstruct the child-rearing support building of the Mino Nursery School, which stands in the precincts of a Soto Zen temple in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture. The shed structure consists of log pillars and random beams that support the polyhedral roof, and is constructed using conventional axial construction methods, utilizing the skills of local carpenters. The roof is supported by five logs cut from the mountain by the nursery school with the cooperation of a local forestry company. The children of the nursery school were also present at the cutting of the logs.
