The building is located in the important traditional building preservation district of Sawara, Katori City, Chiba Prefecture, and consists of five buildings. The two townhouses on the right are used as a cafe and a shop selling Sawara's specialties, and the courtyard, western-style building, storehouse, and storehouse at the back are used as a place for relaxation, cafe, and gallery in the town. The space under the eaves and the courtyard of the Meiji-era merchant house, which had been converted into a signboard building, were revitalized. The renovation work lasted five years and three phases.
