This is a prototype for the "Solar Decathlon" competition, in which universities around the world compete in the design and performance of solar-powered zero-energy houses. In addition to the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Horticulture, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Medicine, and many other faculties of Chiba University participated in the planning and construction of the house, which will participate in the competition held in Madrid, Spain from September 14 to 30, 2012. The building materials and equipment are sponsored by companies.
