PLAYGROUND SUPPORTERS
Outline
This is a series of projects to create a place for residents to gather on the site of temporary housing in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture. Action research is a method (advocated by Kurt Levin) in which a research practitioner accompanies the people involved and works with them to change the current situation. The project gradually developed benches, a café full of friends, and a shelter as needed. We also dismantled plank seats used for athletic events and created terraces and benches to be attached to temporary housing. These structures are scheduled to be installed for two years.
