This is the company housing of the Structural Planning Institute, the designer and owner of the building, in Suginami-ku, Tokyo. The building has a 3-dimensional seismic isolation structure that reduces seismic shaking in both horizontal and vertical directions. The seismic isolation is also effective against vertical shaking caused by a direct-type earthquake. In the Great East Japan Earthquake, the horizontal shaking was reduced by 42% and the vertical shaking by 28%.
