NIHON SEKKEI
Outline
This complex was built on the site of the former Kintetsu Theater south of Uehommachi Station in Osaka. It houses commercial facilities, offices, and the Osaka Shinkabuki-za Theater (designed by Murano & Mori Architects/5902), which was relocated from Namba. The cast aluminum louvers on the west façade facing the plaza are based on the motif of the continuous arabesque gables of the former Osaka Shinkabuki-za. As a result of a site-oriented land readjustment project, the city road on the north side of the site was replaced on the southeast side, creating a plaza that is connected to the adjacent station, hotel, and department store in a three-dimensional manner.
