This is an elementary school with the oldest wooden school building in the prefecture, 78 years old (completed in 1933) and registered as a tangible cultural property by the city (2009). The school was selected as a model school for the "School Eco-Renovation and Environmental Education Project" (2006), and eco-renovation was carried out at the same time as seismic renovation.
