SHIMIZU CORPORATION
Outline
A research and development office under construction in front of JR Osaki Station, scheduled for completion in March 2011. The building is designed to be long and narrow from north to south in order to effectively cool the wind. The east wall is equipped with an evaporative cooling skin made of highly water-retentive ceramic tubes and aluminum tubes to create a latent heat effect. The foot of the building is covered with soil, and in the future it will become a forest to counter the heat island effect in the city.
