Outline
The Visitor Center stands in front of the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine on the World Heritage Kumano Kodo. The building is divided into a north wing and a south wing according to the axis that runs from the shrine to the Kumano River. The solid cedar wood used in the building is cut from the mountains and forests in and around the city. The 8-sun square (242 mm square) pillars that stand in the lobby are dug up.
