RESTAURANT NAGAYAMON

CHIBA LABORATORY, THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO + CHIBA MANABU ARCHITECTS
Outline
This restaurant is an extension of a row house gate built in the Edo period. It was realized as an extension of a proposal for urban development that utilizes local resources, such as the town's remaining old houses and spring water from Mt. The curvature of the roof and the wall materials were derived from the relationship with the Nagayamon gate. From the seats of the restaurant, the view of the Nagayamon gate and the streetscape of Fujinomiya can be perceived from various distances through the openings and the garden.
