Outline
This two-story wooden house is located in a residential area with a difference in elevation. The house consists mainly of a cavernous main room with slanted contact points between the floor, walls, and ceiling. There is a gas fireplace in the main room, and the openings to the stairwell and other rooms are kept as small as possible. The exterior walls are clapboarded with yaki-sugi (burnt cedar), and the tea room on the second floor can be accessed directly by climbing a cypress ladder.
