Outline
Renovation of the hayama kaji residence, completed in 1928 and designed by arata endo, a pupil of frank lloyd wright. since the building is designated as a national tangible cultural property, the main focus of the renovation was to preserve the original while adding value to the existing back space and other areas. the basement, which used to be a servant's quarters, has less restrictions on renovation as a cultural property, so the floor was removed and the ceiling was made into a vaulted ceiling, exposing the 100-year-old beams in the bathroom.
