Outline
A house with an inn on a site that used to be a terraced orange grove. In order to be self-sufficient in lifelines such as electricity, gas, and water, the plan incorporates Ondol (floor heating), solar power, and rainwater harvesting. The building is placed down the steps of the site, and the rooms are divided by the steps. The slope of the roof is determined according to the existing angle (105°) of the transparent corrugated roofing material used as a top light. The exterior walls are constructed using the local yellow earth.
