Outline
The project is to renovate three 40-year-old wooden one-storied two-room row houses on a site with a view of the Kaibe River, one of the cleanest rivers in Japan, to the west and a rural landscape to the east. The existing frame is made into a skeleton, and the front and rear sides are fully opened to take in the east and west views to the maximum extent. The exterior and interior walls are finished and the flooring is made of local cedar.
