The building stands on a narrow frontage and deep site in an area where many machiya still remain. The earthen floor cranks its way through the long, narrow building from north to south. The building is designed to be not only a passageway but also an open space full of life, with a clog box that also serves as a bench, a bedroom, a small room for a private room, a staircase, and a cloakroom right beside it.
