The building is located in a steep residential area in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture, close to the sea and mountains. A structural frame filled with heat insulating material was inserted into the 54-year-old wooden one-story building, which was closed to the surrounding environment. In addition to improving thermal insulation and earthquake resistance, we created a space that allows the residents to enjoy the rich natural environment of the surrounding area.
