The site is located in the suburbs of central Kyoto, where the jobo system has been taken over as a formal land layout. By laying out an oblique jobo grid at a 45-degree angle to the jobo grid based on the east-west and north-south axes, multiple small open spaces and loopholes are created between adjacent buildings.
