Outline
The first floor is a single-room space 4 ken deep by 5 ken wide, lined with 12 pillars spaced 1 ken apart. On the grid connecting the pillars, grooves are cut to allow the insertion of fittings, so that the space can be partitioned according to changes in daily life. The ceiling, which also serves as the attic floor, has wooden louvers with a pitch of 98mm.
