Outline
While the old machiya still remains, the building is located in a place that combines various situations, just a 15-minute walk from Nagoya Station. Rather than responding to such a place with a single solution, we created two polarized spaces: the "kura", a closed place for living, and the "mise", open to the city. The gabled roof is kept horizontal, and the eaves are lowered toward the street to create an undulating ceiling surface.
