Outline
Renovation of a townhouse from the Meiji period to be used as a guesthouse. The match between the owner and the manager was made through the "Kanazawa Machiya Distribution Coordination Project," a project commissioned by Kanazawa City to the NPO Kanazawa Machiya Research Association to promote the utilization of machiya. The work was carried out mainly by craftsmen who are graduates of the Kanazawa Craftsmen's College, which was established in 1996 for the main purpose of passing on traditional architectural techniques, which are in decline, and fostering the technicians who support them.
