Outline
The house stands on a long, narrow site with a mountain rising behind it. The building is divided into two buildings to match the scale of the wooden houses in the area, which used to be an inn town. The front building and the rear building face each other across an exterior space where the floor level has been shifted and greenery has been planted, and the two buildings are connected by a tunnel-like stairwell.
