This is a renovation of a 45-year-old wooden house for a client who wishes to retire. The house is located on a flagpole site in a densely built-up area of Tokyo, and is surrounded by houses. 2-storey one-room spaces are connected to each other up and down through an atrium, and large openings are created to avoid the position of openings in the adjacent houses.
