KAWASHIMASUZUKA ARCHITECTSSTUDIO
Outline
The building is located on a site facing a 2.7m wide alley in Tsukishima. The volume is determined by the building area of 20m2 which is possible on the site and the height limit of 10m which is allowed by the district plan. Because the site is difficult for heavy machinery to enter, no piles were driven, and except for the foundations, the two-story structure is framed using only small H-shaped steel. In the middle of each floor, a diagonal beam with flat bars is installed to prevent buckling, and a steel mesh is stretched over it to make use of the space above.
