Outline
A 40-year-old pencil building with 6 floors above ground and 1 floor below ground was renovated into a residential building. After reinforcing the building against earthquakes in accordance with the Law for the Promotion of Earthquake-Resistant Retrofitting, some floors on the third and fourth floors were removed to create a vaulted ceiling, connecting the living and dining rooms with the work space and allowing a large amount of lighting from the south. The atrium is structurally reinforced, and the handrail extends directly from the H-shaped steel.
