HOUSE IN YAMASAKI

YO SHIMADA
Outline
The building stands on the corner of a newly developed residential area surrounded by rice fields. The three huts, placed on a half-height platform to improve the efficiency of the thermal storage floor heating and the view to the surrounding environment, have the scale of a farm shed and serve as a link between the fields and the residential area. A greenhouse-like shed, a railing that doubles as a bench, and a room that looks like a packing box placed in the room ...... are some of the customary elements of the house, and by layering them with double meanings, they create a bricolage-like interior landscape that gives freedom to the living.
