Masaaki Nakatsuji & Masae Nakatsuji M2-Nakatsuji Architect Atelier
Outline
A frontage of 3.56m is deliberately divided into three sections, with three wall pillars for each of the smallest inter-column dimensions (890mm) that allow for staircase dimensions, and the booths that serve as living spaces are built over the wall pillars. The wall pillars function not only as structural elements but also as partitions, stair risers, and supports for furniture and storage. In addition, the disparity between the booths ensures lighting and floating, and the layered wall pillars provide visual depth.
