Outline
The building is located on a mountainside overlooking the port town of Tomonoura. The building is composed of skip floors that make the most of the 2.5m difference in site elevation, and the roof is built along the slope to frame the view to the southeast. Part of the exterior walls are masonry and embedded in the basement using box culverts to create an air layer within the walls for heat storage and thermal insulation.
