Toru Mukooyama
Outline
The site is wide open to the east with a view of satoyama on the other side of the valley. Since the satoyama can be seen from the road on the west side, and in consideration of the building load on the ground, the top edge of the concrete foundation juts out around the four sides of the building, and a box-like framework is built on top of it to create a flat roof. By fanning the rafters from the outer perimeter to the courtyard in the center, a smooth ceiling surface is realized and outside light is softly taken in.
