Outline
Can "DUB", the expansion/compression effect of sound, be applied to architecture? In other words, when the building is expanded/compressed, the one that maintains the characteristics of the artist is defined as "DUB applied" architecture, and the one that loses the essence is defined as "DUB not applied" architecture, which is practiced and verified in this residence. The space consists of various volumes such as a kitchen with an extremely high ceiling, a Japanese style room on the mezzanine floor, and a living room on the second floor. There are no openings on the south, east, and west elevations, and light and ventilation are secured from three voids that function as inner gardens and terraces. "In order for DUB to work, the plan, cross-sectional plan, and details had to be as seamless, frameless, and scaleless as possible, so the composition of the spaces, the colors used, the finishes on the walls and floors, and the fitment of domestic sashes and drainage were all carefully controlled.
