Outline
This project is an extension to a farmhouse over 100 years old in the countryside of Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture. Rather than contrasting the existing traditional wooden space and the woody space using modern technology of LVL laminated walls, the design was carried out so that the space would feel like a series of gradations while being different from the existing part. The walls of the extension are made of 90mm wide x 140mm high LVL laminated wood, piled up so that the laminated surface looks like a small opening.
