The building is located on a trapezoidal site with a slope on half of it, in the suburbs of Tokyo. The site is excavated to the maximum extent possible, and most of the volume is used as the basement. This allows for horizontal openings on the south side of the basement with inverted beams that also serve as railings for the ground floor, a large support surface on the stable ground, and open space within the subdivision.
