IITH CAMPUS DESIGN TEAM OF THE UNIVERSITY OF TOKYO NIHON SEKKEI APL DESIGN WORKSHOP

- The Japanese government provided support for the establishment of IITH in terms of both facilities and education/research, and a consortium of universities and private companies took charge of the actual work. The University of Tokyo participated as the lead institution, and a temporary design team led by Hidetoshi Ohno and Yoshiyuki Kawazoe was organized within the university to begin designing the facilities (a JICA-commissioned project from 2011). It was a great challenge to design a building of such a large scale and with such a distinctive form, all made of reinforced concrete.
