The main building of kadonowaki elementary school in ishinomaki city is one of the 40 planned earthquake-affected facilities in iwate, miyagi, and fukushima prefectures, and is the only building that survived both the tsunami inundation and the fire. the school building was converted from a building to a structure, the less damaged special classroom building and indoor playground were converted to exhibition space, and an observation building was constructed as a flow line connecting the existing buildings.
