Inspired by the ainu village of porokotan, "kai poroto" in shiraoi-gun, hokkaido, has a hotel building and a hot-spring house along lake poroto. with the permission of the town, the land was excavated and the lake was drawn into the site to create a hot-spring house surrounded by the lake. the triangular pyramid-shaped volume of the buildings was planned to enclose the minimum necessary space in consideration of the landscape.
