Outline
This project is a partial renovation of a traditional Japanese house. The Japanese style room on the south side was left untouched and the living space on the north side was modified. In order to create a sense of lightness, we used floor-to-ceiling windows and glass as partitions between the rooms, and also removed the ceiling to reveal the existing beams. In addition, glass fittings were installed to frame the view of the Japanese style room to the south and the garden beyond.
