View from the symbolic promenade on the east side leading to Kumamoto Castle. The site used to be the Kumamoto Kotsu Center, which was redeveloped into a complex consisting of commercial facilities, a hall, offices, a hotel, condominiums, and a bus terminal. The symbol promenade was closed due to this redevelopment. The former site of the Kumamoto City Industry and Culture Center will be renamed Hanabata Plaza (tentative name), which will be integrated with the Symbol Promenade, Hanabata Park and Karashima Park into an open space.
