Outline
Renovation of a wharf opened in 1917, located in the Shinko area of the Minato Mirai 21 district. The quay was upgraded to allow large passenger ships to berth. A complex facility consisting of a CIQ facility (a series of cross-border facilities) for berthing overseas ships, private commercial shops and a hotel (InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8) will be constructed. Large cruise ships, which were previously concentrated at the Yokohama Port Osanbashi International Passenger Terminal and the Daikoku Wharf, will be able to berth closer to the city limits. At the tip of the wharf is a hammerhead crane built in 1914 (a Heritage of Industrial Modernization). 0 6
