Outline: The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and East Japan Railway Company collaborated to develop the Marunouchi Station Square at Tokyo Station. The project aimed to expand the transportation functions of the station and to integrate the plaza with the restored Marunouchi Station Building (see 1211), Gyoko-dori Avenue, and other surrounding areas. The Marunouchi Central Square, a pedestrian space, is located in the center of the station, with the Transportation Square to the north and south of it.
