MUSASHINO ART UNIVERSITY MUSEUM & LIBRARY

This project was selected through a proposal competition in 2007 as an extension of the former art library (1967) designed by Yoshinobu Ashihara. It is a steel-frame structure with one basement floor and two stories above ground. The structure is spiral-shaped with 900mm thick walls of bookshelves. Openings of various heights are made in the walls of the shelves to secure the flow lines in various directions.
