FUKUDA ART MUSEUM

Outline
This private art museum is located in Arashiyama, a tourist spot dotted with many historic sites and scenic spots. The museum mainly exhibits the owner's collection of Japanese paintings from the Edo period to the modern era. The aim of the architecture was to create an image of a "storehouse" that would protect the works of art, while at the same time being a facility open to the local community. The building blends into the landscape of Saga Arashiyama with Togetsukyo Bridge and Mt. A hotel by the same owner is currently under construction on the east side of the site (scheduled for completion in spring 2020).
