SPINAL INJURIES CENTER

Outline
A specialized hospital for patients with spine and spinal cord diseases was built in the mountains of Iizuka, Fukuoka Prefecture. The hospital was designed to care for patients in a series of stages from the acute stage to rehabilitation and reintegration into society, while utilizing the entire site as a recuperation environment. The plan of the building was designed to resemble the palm of the hand, amplifying the contact with nature.
