House in Kikuzaka

Outline
The building is served on two sides by an exterior staircase that connects Kikusaka (the front street) with the street on the south side, which has a difference in elevation. On the north side, where there is a lot of pedestrian traffic, the wall is raised up three layers, and slits and windows are installed at the corners of the building, and by breaking up the form, the details give expression to the streetscape. In the interior, light from the two top lights and slits installed above the four-story atrium creates a variety of expressions on each floor.
